Call for Spark Finland is open 1 – 31.5.2023

sparkfinland.fi

Are you investigating basic mechanisms of disease? Or are you sitting on a new technology or potential pharmacotherapy with clinical potential, yet the developmental know-how is lacking?

SPARK Finland is a two-year support program to increase the maturity of your idea towards a practical and value creating solution for human health.

The first SPARK program was established by Professor Daria Mochly-Rosen in 2006 for advancing new biomedical research discoveries into promising new treatments for patients. SPARK Finland follows the same principles that have been cornerstones of SPARK at Stanford, and our program is an official member of SPARK Global network.

Finnish program has been extremely successful during the first five and half years. That is why in March 2021 Labiotech.eu – the leading digital media covering the European Biotech industry- selected SPARKFinland as TOP25 Biotech Incubators in Europe.
We help you to understand what is needed to develop your project. We also connect you with the top-level mentors and integrate you and your team to leading global networks that enables building your own market understanding and getting relevant feedback from toptier professionals.

We accept projects already in the idea phase, not only those that are more advanced. We accept applicants that don’t have funding at the moment or have own financial resources (Research-to Business or local innovation grants) that cover the costs of development work.

Calls are targeted for wide spectrum in health tech and life science field; from drugs and vaccines to diagnostics and med tech – all the way to bioinformatics and health IT. The solution of the proposed project must:

  • address an unmet need in the area of life science, medicine and health
  • utilize a novel approach (and possibly with an opportunity to IP)
  • have the potential to advance to clinic, clinical trials or commercialization within 2-3 years

For Biodesign Finland winners we have a special route and those applicants, please, contact first Biodesign program managers.
Eligible applicants are from Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Kuopio and Joensuu regions – faculty, scientists, health care professionals, students – from our member institutions.
