We are looking for ambitious companies to showcase their solutions to experts and decision-makers in defence, security, and dual-use industries. This is your chance to gain visibility, connect with key stakeholders, and present your innovation in a high-profile setting.
From all applicants, up to six companies will be invited to pitch live on November 18 at 18:00 at Epicenter, Helsinki. Please note that remote pitching will not be possible.
Who can apply?
- Your company is legally registered and based in Eastern Finland
- You provide at least one illustration of how your solution can be applied in defence, security, or dual-use contexts
- Your pitch must not include any elements related to lethal force or political content/influence
What to expect?
- Each selected company will deliver a live pitch deck presentation
- A panel of industry experts will follow up with interview questions
- A unique opportunity to highlight your expertise and expand your network
Evaluation Criteria – Start-up Pitch Borderland
1. Business and Expertise (0–5 points)
- Clarity of the business idea and value proposition
- Relevance and innovativeness of the solution for defence, security, or dual-use applications
- Team competence and industry expertise
2. Development Stage and References (0–5 points)
- Maturity of the solution (idea, prototype, pilot, or commercial product)
- Existing references (customers, pilots, partners) in Finland or abroad
- Demonstrated traction or proof of concept
3. Goals and Expectations (0–5 points)
- Clear objectives for participating in the pitch (partners, customers, funding, visibility)
- Fit between the company’s growth strategy (e.g. internationalization, product development) and the event’s purpose
- Potential impact and scalability of the solution
4. Overall Impression (0–5 points)
- Strength and persuasiveness of the pitch
- Alignment with the competition requirements
- Why this company should be selected among the finalists
Total Score: 0–20 points
The evaluation will be carried out by the Borderland Expert Panel of Eastern Finland.

- Final selections announced: October 24
